5th International Workshop for Mangrove Biodiversity Studies by eDNA Metabarcoding
7 - 24 December, 2023
at Iriomote Station, TBRC, University of the Ryukyus
Co-sponsored by JSPS Core to Core, e-ASIA JRP and KAKENHI International (B)
Welcome to Iriomote Station!
We are pleased to hold the “5th International Workshop for Mangrove Biodiversity Studies by eDNA Metabarcoding” at Iriomote Station, Tropical Biosphere Research Center (TBRC), University of the Ryukyus, Japan. This workshop is in conjunction with a class at Graduate School of Agriculture, University of the Ryukyus "熱帯植物多様性特論I・II."
The international collaboration project for eDNA research on global mangroves started in 2020 by obtaining support from JSPS Core to Core, but we haven't had any face-to-face meetings with coordinators because of the outbreak of Covid-19.
We will explore the use of eDNA metabarcoding for biodiversity monitoring, in this case, not only for fish but also for plants with workshop participants from Indonesia, Philippines, Malaysia, and Senegal. In one week intensive course, we explore the basics and advances of eDNA metabarcoding.
